Minecraft Vanilla is all about exploration, whether you're delving into vast caves or scaling towering mountains. After a while, the desire for a fresh approach to travel grows, especially when dealing with significant heights. Enter the Grappling Hook plugin by SnowGears. With this plugin, you can leap to great heights, descend into the depths, and more. At PixelHost, installing a plugin is super easy, so today we’ll guide you through how to do it.
🔽 Plugin Download:
Visit the Grappling Hook Spigot page.
Click on the "Version History" tab, then find the version you want, such as the latest version.
Click "Download" to start the download.
Save the .jar file in a safe place for later.
🖥️ Server Installation:
Go to your PixelHost Server Panel and stop the server.
Scroll down to the "JAR File" section and ensure the server is on a plugin-compatible version, like PaperMC.
Access "FTP File Access" on the left side, then log in.
Create or access the plugins folder and click "Upload" in the top left.
Drag and drop the plugin's .jar file on the right side.
Once it reaches 100%, return to the main panel page and restart the server.
The plugin should now load on the server and be ready for use!
🎮 Gameplay:
Once installed, the plugin should work automatically without any additional configuration.
Crafting:
Grappling Hook can be crafted at a crafting table using a fishing rod in the center and then 3 materials in the corners. Depending on the material, the number of uses will increase.
Wooden Planks: 5 uses
Iron Ingot: 20 uses
Gold Ingot: 25 uses
Emerald: 40 uses
Diamond: 100 uses
Obtaining via Commands:
/gh give - Gives the user a grappling hook with 50 uses.
/gh give [#] - Gives the user a grappling hook with a specified number of uses.
/gh give [player] - Gives a grappling hook to a specified player's inventory with 50 uses.
/gh give [player] [#] - Gives a grappling hook to the specified player's inventory with a specified number of uses.
🕹️ How to Use:
Grappling:
The primary use of the grappling hook is, naturally, grappling. Using the item, you can throw it like a regular fishing rod until it hooks onto the top of a block. Once hooked, simply reel it in to launch yourself upwards.
Rappelling:
Now that you're up, you'll need to get down. Fortunately, the grappling hook also lets you descend. Simply latch it onto a nearby block, then jump. You'll automatically descend safely to the bottom. To retract the grappling hook without dragging yourself, just switch items or walk away.
Mobs:
Like a more powerful fishing rod, you can hook entities and pull them towards you with great force.
Items:
Is an item too far away? Just hook it and pull it into your inventory.
🔑 Permissions:
Although the plugin works automatically without permissions, you can choose to add them yourself using the following:
grapplinghook.pull.self - Allows the player to pull themselves with the hook.
grapplinghook.pull.mobs - Allows the player to pull mobs with the hook.
grapplinghook.pull.players - Allows the player to pull other players with the hook.
grapplinghook.pull.items - Allows the player to pull items with the hook.
grapplinghook.craft.wood - Allows the player to craft wooden grappling hooks.
grapplinghook.craft.stone - Allows the player to craft stone grappling hooks.
grapplinghook.craft.iron - Allows the player to craft iron grappling hooks.
grapplinghook.craft.gold - Allows the player to craft gold grappling hooks.
grapplinghook.craft.diamond - Allows the player to craft diamond grappling hooks.
grapplinghook.command.give - Allows the player to use the /gh give command.
grapplinghook.player.nopull - Prevents the player from being pulled by others.
grapplinghook.player.nocooldown - Allows the player to bypass the hook cooldown (if configured).
📝 Conclusion:
With that, you’re now ready to soar through the skies with the grappling hook plugin! Whether you allow it for all players, add it as a kit, or something else, there’s nothing more fun than maneuvering through heights. It can be used as a secret base entrance, to drop into ravines, and for many other options. Once crafted, you’ll always want one on hand as an essential tool for survival and exploration.
Now that you know how to install this plugin, you can add it yourself and use it as you wish. Enjoy your new grappling hook and remember to have fun!
