Hello Minecraft players! 🎮🌍
Are you ready to dive into a private experience with your friends on your Minecraft server? We know there's nothing worse than building your dream world only to have an unexpected griefer show up, but don't worry! Today, we're bringing you a super simple guide to activate the Whitelist on your server and keep those intruders out of your kingdom. 🏰🚫
What is the Whitelist?
The Whitelist is a feature that allows you to create a private server in Minecraft, where only the players you authorize can join. This is ideal if you want a space just for your friends, family, or for that epic game without worries that someone else might join without permission.
How to Enable the Whitelist in the Java Edition 🍵
Open your server panel and go to the console 📺.
2. Type whitelist on and press Enter. Your server is now protected. If you want to disable it, simply type whitelist off in the console.
3. Add your friends with the command whitelist add [player_name].
4. To remove a user from the whitelist, simply type whitelist remove [player_name].
⚠️ Reminder: You don't need to add users who already have "OP" status to the whitelist.
How to Check Who’s on the Whitelist 📜
To see which users are on your server’s whitelist:
1. Open the server panel.
2. Go to "Files".
3. Find the "whitelist.json" file and click on it. Here, you can check who’s on the server's whitelist.
Basic In-Game Whitelist Commands
Java Command 🖥️
Command | Description |
/whitelist [on/off] | Enables/Disables the whitelist. |
/whitelist add [player] | Adds players to the whitelist. |
/whitelist remove [player] | Removes players from the whitelist. |
/whitelist list | Shows which players are on the whitelist. |
/whitelist reload | Reloads the plugin, necessary to save changes. |
Common Issues and Solutions
Problem: I enabled the whitelist, but my friends can’t join.
Solution: Ensure you've correctly added their usernames to the whitelist using the whitelist add [player_name] command. Also, check that their usernames are spelled correctly.
Problem: I can’t see the whitelist.json file.
Solution: Double-check that you’re in the right directory under "Files" in your server panel. If the file is missing, you may need to enable the whitelist first for the file to generate.
Problem: Changes to the whitelist are not taking effect.
Solution: Make sure to use the /whitelist reload command after making changes to ensure they are applied.
And there you have it! You’re now ready to protect your server and enjoy private games with your friends.
