Before installing a modpack, we highly recommend reading the modpack’s page, as you may find useful information about configurations you need to add, minimum RAM recommendations, additional downloads required, or any type of solutions to potential errors.

🗂️ Understanding the Files

Modpacks generally come with two files: one for the client (your PC) and another for the server (PixelHost service).

It’s important to note that you cannot install the client modpack on your server because it is likely to contain UI (User Interface) mods that are not compatible with server-side installation.

🔍 Where to Find the Files?

On the CurseForge page, in the files category, you will see the file for the client. If you scroll down a bit, you'll find the "Additional Files".

💾 Uploading and Extracting the Modpack Files

Once you’ve downloaded the server file, you need to upload it to the file container in your panel: "/home/container/".

Note: If the files are larger than 1 GB, they must be uploaded via SFTP.

After uploading, right-click on the file and select "Unarchive."

Common Issue: If you receive an error when uploading large files through the panel, always switch to using SFTP, which is more stable for handling large transfers.

🗂️ What to Do If a Folder is Generated Instead of Files?

If unarchiving generates a folder instead of the files directly, follow these steps:

  1. Enter the generated folder.

  2. Select all the files.

  3. Click "Move."

  4. Type "../" to move the files to the parent directory.

Pro Tip: Always double-check that the files are in the correct location after moving them to

avoid startup errors.

⚙️ Installing the Correct Version

Ensure you install the version corresponding to the modpack.

If the correct Forge/Fabric version doesn’t work and your modpack includes a start.sh file, do the following:

  1. Go to the "Startup parameters tab in your panel.

  2. Change the "Startup Command" to the value "start.sh".

Common Issue: If the server doesn’t start after setting the start.sh file, verify that the file has the correct permissions (executable). You can do this via your SFTP client by checking the file properties.

🎉 You’re Done!

Congratulations! You have successfully installed a modpack on your Minecraft server with PixelHost. Your server is now ready to run the modpack and provide an exciting experience for your players. If you encounter any issues, always refer back to the modpack’s page or consult our support team for further assistance.

Best Regards,
