Note: This guide applies to Spigot, PaperSpigot, and SpongeForge servers; it will not work for other server types. Ensure that the Timings report is taken when your server is experiencing lag, and let the report run for at least ten minutes.

A Timings report is a diagnostic tool for Spigot, PaperSpigot, and SpongeForge servers that provides a detailed breakdown of server performance. It is often used to diagnose the source of server lag and is an extremely useful tool for managing your server.

Sometimes, our clients find it challenging to read Timings reports. This is completely normal; at first glance, it may seem like just a sea of numbers and colors. Don’t worry; we’re always available to provide assistance, so reach out if you get stuck.

📋 How to Take a Timings Report on Spigot/PaperSpigot:

  1. Start your server and connect to it.

  2. Make sure you have operator (OP) permissions.

  3. As soon as you are experiencing performance issues on your server, enter the command /timings on.

  4. You will see a message appear in chat. After this message appears, wait at least ten minutes! The Timings report is being recorded in the background.

  5. After about 10-15 minutes, enter the command /timings paste.

  6. A link will appear in the chat; this is your Timings report!

📋 How to Take a Timings Report on SpongeForge:

  1. Ensure that SpongeForge is successfully installed on your server.

  2. Start your server and connect to it.

  3. Make sure you have operator (OP) permissions.

  4. As soon as you are experiencing performance issues on your server, enter the command /sponge timings on.

  5. Wait at least 10 minutes before entering the command /sponge timings report. Waiting 10 minutes provides the most accurate representation of where your server is not performing well.

  6. A link will then appear; this is your Timings report!
